Largest Mural Made Of Recycled Paper Straws
Students from Grades 1 to10 at GIIS East Coast collaborated to create a mural measuring 2.9m by 4m. It was constructed from 5,000 recycled newspaper straws, each one hand-rolled by students. Devika Yogest Aphale, 22, spent 4 months doing a 1.56m-by-1.03m Madhubani painting, an Indian folk art going back 2,500 years. Vijayalakshmi Mohan led clients from Institute of Mental Health to paint on round canvases for an art display at SG60 Onam Village, a lunch and carnival held at MPC@Khatib on 24 Aug 2025.
