At every National Youth Envirolympics Challenge (NYEC) organised by the Ci Yuan CC Youth Executive Committee, a record was broken. At this year’s 5th NYEC, the youths attempted to break the world record for longest bottle chain. Guinness required that the chain be made within 24 hr. From 24 May 2013 to the next day, Ci Yuan youths together with children from some participating schools, drilled holes at the base of plastics bottles and stringed the bottles together. The end result was 9,060 bottles measuring 2.28 km.
