School of Science and Technology, Singapore, is a private independent secondary school that leverages strongly on IT in its learning environment. For its National Day celebration on 8 Aug 2017, 648 students sat in pre-arranged rows and lifted up their laptops to show a  Singapore flag made up of their combined screens.

Sport Singapore wanted to celebrate the sporting heroes of Singapore in the past 52 years. So on 5 Aug, a mass walk was held at the SportsHub OCBC Square and participants were asked to be attired like the mythical superheroes. 100 people took part.

Longest Kayak

Tour agency, 1derlust, has a large number of Point 65 modular kayaks which can be easily detached and reattached within seconds. To celebrate Singapore’s 52nd National Day, the company assembled 52 seatable pieces together and crowdsourced for 52 participants for this unique record-breaking experience. To participate, one had to make a donation to one of the five charities and the response was overwhelming.

Largest Parent-and-Child Obstacle Race

Organised by SAFRA Jurong, SAFRA Sprint Kids Xtreme is an annual event aimed at strengthening bonds among NSmen and their families. Held at West Mall on 6 Aug 2017, the obstacles included Apex Ladder, Ditch, Dodging Panels, Low Rope, Low Wall, Stepping Stones, Hanging Bridge and Tunnel. Over a 5-hr period, 271 parent-child duos completed the obstacle course.

Most Number of People Sewing Buttons On Tote Bags Together

Yu Neng Primary School students were told that sewing is an important lifeskill. On 4 Aug 2017, together they sewed buttons on pre-cut fabrics. The owl-shaped patches were later ironed onto plain white tote bags by parent volunteers and teachers. 1,324 people took part in the activity. The tote bags were later sold to raise funds for ST Pocket Fund and The RICE Company Ltd.
