Sar Kong Mun San Fook Tuck Chee Temple and its lion dance troupe performed Singapore’s longest straw fire dragon, measuring 72.5m, on 20 Mar 2026 to celebrate the birthday of the Earth Deity or Tua Pek Kong. It took 76-year-old Master Yan Meng Chye almost a year to craft the straw dragon, working on weekends. Thousands of lighted incense sticks were inserted into the straw and it required 20 people to perform but 80 people were mobilised so that they can take turns moving the heavy dragon.
