Longest Bunting Made Of Used Plastic Bags

Juying Primary School students collected grocery poly bags, cut them into triangles and decorated them with the SG50 theme. The plastic triangles were brought to school and linked to form a 248m long bunting. It was hung across the school building in time for the school National Day celebration on 6 Aug 2015.

People’s Association Narpani Pearavai organised a community carnival at Sentosa on 26 Jul 2015. In 2 hours, about 50 volunteers managed to string 838m of orchids. After measurement, the orchids were cut up and hundreds of carnival visitors got to wear the garlands.

Singapore International School in Hong Kong celebrated SG50 with the collection of canned food to be given to the needy. Before the cans were sent out on 16 Jun 2015, about 120 primary students put together a 11.9m by 6.6m SG50 logo using 12,450 tin cans. The record was broken by Kg Chai Chee.
