At the Food of Asia fair held at the Singapore Expo, Sphere Exhibits brought in Chef Liu Zhan Ming from Guangzhou to create a huge bao containing 3,000 xiaolongbao (small meat buns). A clever way to create Singapore’s largest rangoli is to hold a rangoli competition. 64 teams taking part were each given a 2m by 2m square to work on using rangoli powder. Residents of the Kolam Ayer Whampoa South precinct, near Bendemeer Road, painted a 5-storey high banner to express their wishes for Singapore on its 49th birthday.
