Largest Rangoli Made Of Ice-Cream Sticks

Kalamanjari was founded by Soundara Nayaki Vairavan to promote Tamil classical music. At Tekka Place on 21 Jan 2023, members of the organisation performed songs related to the works of 4 renowned Tamil scholars. In the background were the portraits of the scholars done by rangoli artists Sudhadevi and Rakshita using 26,000 ice-cream sticks. The display measured 5.8m by 4.7m.

Largest Mass Pongal Cooking

Pongal is celebrated by the Tamils to mark a bountiful harvest. The Keat Hong IAEC organised a Pongal celebration at The Arena @ Keat Hong on 15 Jan 2023. Using provided ingredients, 294 people cooked porridge in traditional pots over gas stoves. Participants got to bring home the pots and stoves after the event.

Largest Rangoli Made Of Vegetables

Over 200 migrant workers and domestic workers gathered at Indian Heritage Centre’s Pongal Open House on 15 Jan 2023 to set a rangoli record. Made of vegetables, rice and dhal, the display measured 6m by 5m. The foodstuff was distributed to participants at the end of the event. The rangoli was led by renowned artist Vijaya Mohan.

Largest Chinese Character Made Of Vadai

14 Jan 2023 was close to both the Tamil Pongal Festival and the Chinese New Year. Bukit Batok Zone 11 Residents Network’s gathering that day at Bukit Batok Street 22 combined both celebrations. To emphasise the community’s multiculturism, they used vadai, an Indian snack, to form the Chinese character 丰 (abundance) measuring 4.8m by 12.8m.

Tallest Christmas Tree Made Of End-Of-Life Materials

UBS AG Singapore achieved its third sustainability-themed Christmas tree record by building them using disposed materials. The staff contributed things like used toys, water containers, sports equipment, etc, and 2 ‘Trash-Sure’ trees were built. The taller one measured 4m and was awarded the record on 6 Jan 2023 at 9 Penang Road.
