Largest Floating Raft Made From Drink Cans

To celebrate World Water Day on 24 Mar 2012, PUB collaborated with Anderson Secondary School to build a floating raft using more than 2,000 used drink cans. The raft, measuring 4.33m (length) by 1.04m (width) by 0.6m (height), floated on Punggol Reservoir with the help of a boat which pulled it for about 30m from the side.

At the annual Easter Egg Hunt organised by Kids In Total Embrace on 17 Mar 2012, 1,400 children were led by a rooster mascot in a five-minute chicken dance. The event at Yishun Stadium also saw children, clutching coupons and running in all directions redeeming popcorn, mineral water, candy floss and playing a variety of games.

Largest Heart Formation Made of Origami Hearts

The People’s Association’s Teen Network Club kicked off its10th anniversary celebrations with ‘Fold With A Heart’. Over 50,000 hearts were folded to raise funds for a social cause. Longest Dragon Dance Made Of Drink Cans

Residents from Bukit Panjang Town created a 38m dragon made out of drink cans. They tied 5,400 Pokka drink cans to form the body of the dragon and on 18 Feb 2012, they even performed a 5-min dragon dance with it. To commemorate Total Defence Day on 16 Feb 2012, 1,189 students of East Spring Secondary School stood together to form a huge two-finger peace sign. It was a lesson of being united in standing up for Singapore, and maintaining racial and religious harmony.

Longest Dragon Sculpture Made of Compact Discs

Renowned artist of recycled materials, Akira Takahashi, collected thousands of unwanted CDs to make a dragon sculpture to usher in the Year of the Dragon on 11 Feb 2012. The dragon measures 7.3m long. It was sponsored and displayed at the premises of Henry Gas Pte Ltd in Bukit Batok.

Largest Rangoli Made Of Beads

Marsiling IAEC celebrated the Tamil Pongal Festival on 29 Jan 2012. Over 200 volunteers from Republic Polytechnic and 9 other schools in the district gathered at Si Ling Secondary School to make a rangoli using 3.5 tons of beads in 6 colours.
