Heineken used 2,000 manhours, 500m of cables and 48 TV screens (40-inch) to create a Christmas Tree that reflects the pervasive use of social media in Singapore.

Conceptualised by local designer, Edwin Cheong, and its advertising agency, the tree measures 11m high and 5.5m wide, and stands in the middle of Clarke Quay from 17 Dec to 26 Dec 2011.

Called a Social Christmas Tree, the public can choose a customised seasons greeting to send to their Facebook friends. Their friends’ photos will appear on the tree right in the heart of Clarke Quay. The friends will also see, on their Facebook accounts, the greetings as well as the Christmas tree.
