Largest Cajon Box Ensemble

The Cajon Society presented BOX’OUT at Scape on 31 Aug 2014.  It offered free admission to all those wanting to try drumming with the cajon. After some brief lessons, 431 participants played a medley of synchronised rhythms. Participants also learned to connect with their inner senses as they tried to play blindfolded as well as with ear-plugs. Instagram photos.

Longest Multi-Day Ultra Marathon

  Charlotte Teoh broke her own Singapore record at the La Transe Gaule XI, France, running 1,192 km, from 12-30 Aug 2014. She came in 7th position among females, and 25th among all. In 2103, she took only 14 days to run 1,100 km around Taiwan island.

Largest Lantern Procession On Ice

The Rink at JCube organised its first lantern festival on 22 Aug 2014. Skaters were given paper lanterns and served with tea and mooncakes. At 10pm, 119 participants lined up to be counted and then started zipping about the rink in what was probably Singapore’s speediest lantern procession.

Largest Bao

At the Food of Asia fair held at the Singapore Expo, Sphere Exhibits brought in Chef Liu Zhan Ming from Guangzhou to create a huge bao containing 3,000 xiaolongbao (small meat buns). Largest Handpainted National Day Banner

Residents of  the Kolam Ayer Whampoa South precinct, near Bendemeer Road, painted a 5-storey high banner to express their wishes for Singapore on its 49th birthday. Organised by the RC, the 12.18m by 2.4m banner was awarded the new record at the Kolam Ayer National Day dinner on 16 Aug 2014.
