World’s Largest Plastic Bag Sculpture

Ci Yuan CC Youth Executive Committee’s National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge this year is to break another world record; this time constructing a huge sculpture made of used plastic bags. Working together with 22 schools, they collected 81,000 used plastic bags. From Friday evening the youths stayed at the Ci Yuan Green Park Pavilion until the afternoon of Saturday 21 Apr 2012 to construct the sculpture using 68,000 bags stringed together, almost doubling the current world record. The end result is an octopus measuring 1.6m high with eight tentacles stretching 8m from end to end.
