From 21 Apr to 20 May 2021, R. Subramaniam walked a total of 1,504,016 steps, approximately 1,200.58 km as recorded by his sports tracking watch. Hillgrove Secondary School’s motto is ‘United we soar’. For the school’s 20th anniversary, it organised a paper plane competition with preliminary rounds held in the classrooms. From 6.08pm on 8 May 2021, till dawn the next day, race walker R Subramaniam, 57, completed a total of 84.05 km. His pace averaged 7 km per hour for the 12 hours, going around a Hougang circuit. He was awarded the record certificate at KJN Pte Ltd (Kuna’s), his sponsor’s premises.
