The Philharmonic Winds is a local wind orchestra formed in 2000. On 29 Sep 2018, the orchestra’s clarinetists played at the National Gallery Singapore that involved walking about the galleries in small groups and then converging in full to play at the atrium. On 8 Sep 2018, they had volunteers to keep the kentung and beduk drumming continuously for 2hr 50 min. These large carved-out wooden drums were traditionally used by a mosque to call for obligatory prayers or to alert villagers to fires or other calamities.
