Wong Shoon Keat won Singapore’s first ever badminton gold at the 1983 SEA Games. To mark the 35th anniversary of his success which is yet to be equalled, his family organised a badminton rally to commemorate the 1983 figure. Together with his wife Irene, sons Shawn, Derek, Jamie and Jason, and daughter-in-law Vanessa, they took turns to keep the shuttlecock in the air and achieved the target. The feat was held at Montfort Secondary School hall on 22 Dec 2017, which was also Shawn’s birthday.
