Yoga instructor Mrudul Jambhekar Iyer, 49, took part in the Ladakh Marathon wearing a 9-yard nauvari saree on 14 Sep 2025. It claims to be the highest marathon in the world, held at undulating heights of 3,505m to 5,370m. At the higher altitude, the oxygen level was about 60% that of sea level and she completed the full marathon in 6 hr 13 min. This was her seventh marathon, the first in 2019.
