Nostalgia filled the air at the Bishan East Mid-Autumn Celebrations. Residents could enjoy traditional snacks and games. Ice balls were freely available and although more is believed to be distributed, the registered count came to 386. The event was held on 26 Sep 2015, close to the Bishan MRT grounds.

Largest Display Of Lanterns Made Of Plastic Bottles

Keat Hong Constituency planned to provide its residents with lanterns for its Mid-Autumn Festival celebration. Grassroots leaders, together with a nearby school, collected used plastic drinking bottles and paint them into lanterns. 2,818 lanterns were lighted and stringed on 19 Sep 2015 outside Lam Soon CC in preparation of the celebration the next week.

The Dog Trainers Association, Singapore, managed to gather 223 participating dogs and their owners for a training session led by Patrick Wong and his team of trainers. The event was a highlight of the PETAS Pet Show, held at Downtown East d’marquee on 6 Sep 2015.

Largest Airplane Pulled By A Group Of People

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, 80 personnel from ST Aerospace managed to pull a Boeing aeroplane a distance of 40m on 5 Sep 2015. The ANA’s Boeing 767-381ER weighed 102 tonnes, inclusive of its fuel. It had a wingspan of 48m and length of 55m. The feat was part of the carnival held at ST Aerospace’s premises at Paya Lebar. Most Number Of Tea Flavours Savoured Simultaneously

JCI Mandarin Singapore celebrated its 35th anniversary at Resort World Sentosa on 5 Sep 2015 with a dinner to raise funds for Sian Chay Medical Institution and Musical Theatre Live. 228 different kinds of tea bags and satchels were provided and diners drank the various teas simultaneously with one heart to continue the cause of the organisation.

Largest Clog Stomping Wave

Bukit Batok East Constituency organised a Cha Kiak (clog) Walkathon on 5 Sep 2015. Walking with clogs from Yusof Ishak Secondary School to Bukit Batok East Ave 4, the event brought back old memories for the seniors. Even the dragon dancers paraded in clogs. At the end of the event, 205 people did a wave, stomping on the ground with their clogs.

First Interactive Gaming Kiosk Equipped With Personal Wellness Analytics

The Research Centre of Excellence in Active Living for the Elderly (Lily), an NTU partnership with University of British Columbia, developed a virtual table tennis game that analyses the player’s body movement. The game can help to predict a person’s risk for illnesses such as Parkinson’s. The kiosk, incorporating a TV, a computer and a Kinect sensor, was launched on 30 Aug 2015 at Woodlands CC.
