Singapore set a new world record for the most fish heads served at a single dinner – 2,012 fish head curries at the Seafood Mela 2012. Race Course Road was closed as thousands descended on the Singapore Food Festival event on 14 July 2012. Five restaurants – The Banana Leaf Apolo, Sakunthala’s Food Palace, Gayatri, Muthu’s Curry and Anjappar Authentic Chettinad Restaurant – prepared the pots of fish head curries whilst 7 other restaurants coordinated by the Indian Restaurants Association (Singapore), added their specialties to the buffet spread.
