Bukit Panjang’s pongal celebration on 19 Jan 2014 came with the full works – decorated cows and goats, rice milling, rangoli, vadai making, cultural performances and of course, pongal pots. Two stainless steel pots were used to cook the rice for guests, the larger one measuring 1.3m high and 1.25m in diameter. A concrete fire hearth was also specially constructed to hold the pots. The festivities took place outside the Pending LRT station.
