Kalam Restaurant at Veerasamy Road was inspired by former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ideals of knowledge, unity, and service. To mark his 95th birthday on 15 Oct 2006, the restaurant prepared the largest serving of mutton biryani on a custom-made 1.9m-by-0.45m steel tray. The dish, a slow-cooked mutton dum biryani using Seeraga Samba rice, was shared with over 60 invited guests.
