At the Food of Asia fair held at the Singapore Expo, Sphere Exhibits brought in Chef Liu Zhan Ming from Guangzhou to create a huge bao containing 3,000 xiaolongbao (small meat buns). After steaming for over 3 hours on 23 Aug 2014, the bao was embedded with the Singapore flag and ’49’ to symbolise the chef’s gift for Singapore’s birthday. The huge bao was 0.6m high and 1.7m in diameter. The smaller buns were given away to fair visitors.
