ITE College West organised a sports carnival for its staff on 30 Sep 2016. To kickstart the carnival, 229 people took part in the beep test, most of them doing it for the first time. A beep test is multi-stage fitness test, or shuttle run test, used by sports coaches and trainers to estimate an athlete’s maximum oxygen uptake. Listening to a recorded audio instruction, participants had to run continuously between two points 20m apart. Participants can stop at any level of the test when they cannot cope with the stamina required.
