This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Deepavali light-up, led by Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (Lisha). What’s unique this year is that 22 social welfare organisations were involved in painting and decorating the shiny surfaces of 55,000 CDs for the Deepavali light-up. 750 intellectually, physically disabled people and the elderly were led by counsellor and multi rangoli record-holder Mrs Vijaya Mohan in the decorations. The streets of Little India will be lit up from 27 Sep-17 Nov 2013 with 500,000 light bulbs. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officiated at the lighting up ceremony.
