To encourage recycling, Eastpoint Mall shoppers made lanterns using newspapers at the mall during the Mid-Autumn festival in September. They then decorated the lanterns with coloured papers cut into different shapes and fitted them with LED lights. 200 papier mache lanterns were displayed on a frame 1.4m in length and 2m in height outside the mall and they were counted on 2 Oct 2019.
