Fastest Time To Type A Tamil Text Message On A Mobile Phone

Mediacorp Tamil News invited its Tamil-speaking viewers for a gathering to promote Tamil typing. On 22 Sep 2019, it had the largest number of people writing Tamil on their smart phones at the same time. Over 500 SMS messages sent from the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre were received by the organiser but after deducting duplicates, 484 SMS texters were qualified for the record. 9 finalists were selected to be individually timed with 3 tries each, to type a 230-character (including spaces) Tamil message. Mohanapriya Chandrasekaran emerged the fastest in 1 min 31 sec to input without a mistake.
