On 23 Nov 2014, Marine Parade GRC, Potong Pasir and Mountbatten SMCs organised a lunch gathering at Qian Xi Restaurant to celebrate Grandparents’ Day. At the back of the stage, 4,709 folded paper carnation flowers were displayed on a board measuring 2.1m by 2.4m as a backdrop. They were folded by many senior citizens from the different constituencies. The idea was initiated by Geylang Serai CC Senior Citizen Executive Committee.
