Since Aug 2016, much publicity has gone out to invite cat owners to submit photos of their cats and measurements. On 7 Jan 2017, the top 5 submitted local cats and 5 pedigree cats came down with their owners to the showroom of the contest organiser, Briopets, a major supplier of pet products. The cats were measured by officials from the Feline Fanciers Society of Singapore. Handsome, owned by Jaime Kong, won the local category with 83.5 cm. The title of largest pedigree cat went to 115-cm Supercoon Rajjin Stormbringer, a Maine Coon owned by Mohamed Dasri.
